We are so incredibly proud to announce the selection of AAS’s first international athlete!

Evie S, who has just left us for Uni, has been selected for the Scotland U19 squad.

To say we are so incredibly proud, is an understatement!

Huge congratulations from your AAS family, Evie

The rain held off for our athletes to take to the courts yesterday, with a good win rate across the board.

Special mention goes to our U10s, many of whom took to the court for the very first time yesterday and they were brilliant!

Some tough matches to start off their netball journey, but they showed great resilience and positive attitudes and brilliant progression throughout!

They have a bright future!

Well done to all our players!

SJNL news update - 26th September 2024

Manor House – Adventure Playground

The SJNL report complaints from the school regarding players & siblings climbing over the fencing/barricade and playing on the adventure playground. It was clear in the league email on the 7th September that this area is out of bounds and not to be used. The school has photographic evidence of players from 2 different clubs + siblings of players from any club present there on the day, using the adventure playground on Sunday with parents standing round watching. When parents were told by one committee member they were not allowed to use that facility they were not very cooperative.  Please remind parents we only hire the courts not the field, long jump pit or playground.

Going Forward:
If any player or sibling is found to be using the adventure playground then that club shall be asked to leave the league for the U10 & U11 age group.

Arrival Times

At least 3 of the venues on Sunday had players & coaches arriving too early and causing issues.
The entrance & Lane to Manor House was blocked by 8:45am resulting in residents complaining to the school + League staff having to deal with confrontations from parents & coaches when requesting them to move their vehicles and come back at 9am when the gates will be opened.

Howard of Effingham had similar issues with parents & coaches queuing on the main road and blocking the gate so the member of staff could not get in. When she did finally manage to get to the gate she had to deal with a lot of abuse from parents demanding that she hurries up and open the facilities. The school will unlock the gates at 9am as per our bookings and it is not possible for any earlier.

Downsend School saw coaches and players on court by 8:45am which is 45 minutes before the match start time. The school has contacted us as they were not expecting anyone that early and queried all our bookings.

Going Forward:
Please note below the earliest arrival time at all the different venues.

** Please note the back gate at Downsend School will be unlocked for visitors to walk through but it MUST NOT be left propped open and is to be closed once people have walked through.

Code of Conduct – Parents / Spectators

We have had our first complaint of a parent loudly criticising / disagreeing with an umpires decision. This is totally unacceptable & it is each club’s responsibility to manage their spectators on site.

Going Forward
Please share the attached code of conduct with all parents / spectators etc. We will monitor the situation but if this sort of behaviour continues we may have to ban all spectators / parents from the venues effected, which is something we do not want to do as it spoils the atmosphere & penalises the non-offending clubs.
